If Skater XL’s currently “very positive” Steam rating is any indication, the builds leading up to the game’s July 28 1.0 launch have done just that.
In a new post shared to both the game’s Steam page and the PlayStation Blog, Dain Hedgpeth, director and co-founder of Easy Day Studios, said that community feedback been integral to the game’s success so far. To highlight that, Skater XL will feature three community-developed maps at launch:
Grant Park by Theo Streets by Jean-Olive Hudland Training Facility by Pactole
You can get a glimpse at the maps below, which are just a small handful of the more than 30 you can find over on the official Skater XL mods page, and not including the thousands that have been created using the in-game map creation tools.
Skater XL features a control scheme similar to the one found in the Skate series, where tricks are controlled by the control sticks. As Easy Day Studios points out, there are no “canned” tricks in the game. Instead, players learn tricks based on practice and creativity.

Skater XL 1.0 was originally slated to release on July 7 but was pushed back to July 28 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The console versions of the game will retail for $39.99, though PC players can buy the game now for $15.99 during the Steam Summer sale.
