Apart from a plethora of Android related announcements, Google also announced that it would soon be rolling out a new software update for the Chromecast that would enable Android users to mirror their device screen to the TV.  To make sure that there was no noticeable lag in mirroring the content, Google developed a whole new format to avoid this problem. Sadly, native screen mirroring is going to be available to only the following devices at launch:

Nexus 4 Nexus 5 Nexus 7 (2013) Nexus 10 LG G2 LG G Pro 2 HTC One M7 Samsung Galaxy S4 Samsung Galaxy S5 Samsung Galaxy Note 3

The above list does not include many other prominent Android devices like the Moto X, the HTC One M8 and Sony’s Xperia handsets. Google goes that it will add support for more devices soon, so there is still some hope left. Koush’s Mirror app bought similar functionality to the Nexus 5 but required root access to work properly and was buggy.
