Sony is going to hold a press conference in Berlin on September 4th, mere hours before Samsung. It’s widely accepted as fact that the company is going to announce a new flagship phone there, which the internet has been referring to as “Honami”. Apparently the actual name of the device will be Z1.
That name comes courtesy of @DooMLoRD. Apparently he’s some sort of Android hacker extraordinaire who lives on XDA. Anyway, the more interesting bit of “news”, if you want to call it that, is a press photo that has emerged on the Asian website ePrice. It’s 640 pixels wide by 193 pixels tall, so don’t expect the world, but it at least confirms that the phone will come in three color options: Black, White, Purple. Sony offered the same options for the Xperia Z earlier this year. Why should you pay attention the the Z1? It’s not going to be the first phone out on the market that uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800. That honor goes to Samsung’s Korean only GS4 LTE-A variant. However, it will be the first phone that can capture 4K video. It’s also going to have a 20 megapixel image sensor, which is a first. The phone supposedly comes with a 3,000 mAh battery too, which is impressive considering the rumors say it’ll have a 5.0 inch 1080p screen. But like I said at the top of this article, just wait 15 days.
