Sony Xperia Xz Premium Crowned As Best New Smartphone At Mwc 2017

This year’s MWC saw the launch of many premium flagship Android smartphones: the LG G6, Huawei P10/P10 Plus, BlackBerry KEYone, and Sony Xperia XZ Premium along with a bunch of other Xperias. Now, the GSMA — the organisation that holds the MWC conference every year — has awarded the Xperia XZ Premium as the “Best New Smartphone at MWC 2017” at their annual Glomo Awards.

The Xperia XZ Premium is Sony’s latest flagship smartphone. It was the only smartphone unveiled at MWC 2017 to feature a Snapdragon 835 chipset. The handset features a mirror-like finish and a 5.5-inch 4K display with HDR support. It also features Sony’s new 19MP Motion Eye camera that can record slow motion videos in 960fps.

While a prestigious award, there still remains a big issue with the XZ Premium: its release date. The handset is not launching before late Sprint 2017. By the time the handset makes it to the market, flagship smartphones from other companies like Samsung, HTC, and others would have already made it to the market.
