Sony has little to no presence in the U.S. market so its not surprising to see the company launch its flagship handsets in the country four months after its official release. Not too surprisingly thus, the company is not launching its super-premium Xperia Z5 Premium in the country, which is the first smartphone in the world to feature a 4K resolution display. As for specs, both the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact are powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset and sport a 23MP rear shooter with an f/2.0 aperture and a 1/2.3″ sensor. The Xperia Z5 houses a larger 5.2-inch Full HD display, while the Z5 Compact comes with a 4.6-inch 720p resolution display. The bigger Xperia also features a 2900mAh battery, while the smaller one features a 2700mAh battery. Since Sony will be selling both phones unlocked, they will work on carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile without a hitch. With Samsung, HTC and LG all on the verge of unveiling their 2016 flagship with a Snapdragon 820 chipset though, it makes almost no sense to buy Sony’s 2015 flagship Xperia handsets now. Update: Sony has confirmed that the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact in the United States will not come with a fingerprint scanner.
