Sprint, the third-largest carrier in the US, announced on Monday that it has expanded its 4G LTE network to 70 new cities, bringing its total number of supported cities to 300.
The list of 70 cities includes Green Bay, Wis; Orlando, Fla; San Diego; and St. Louis. For the entire list of newly added cities, visit Sprint’s website. As a part of the “Sprint Spark” initiative, the carrier is also upgrading existing markets with a new network capability that “uses three spectrum frequencies to deliver peak 4G LTE wireless data speeds of 50-60Mbps.” This initiative is also expected to improve call quality and clarity. From Sprint’s press release: Sprint launched its LTE network pretty late compared to Verizon and AT&T, and even with this rollout, it remains behind rival carriers when it comes to LTE coverage. Verizon recently tripled its LTE capacity in some US cities, and bumped speeds to as much as 80 Mbps.
