Gameplay heavily incorporates the decisions you make to change and adjust the direction of the story. You can choose to work with the mission givers or against them, for instance. How you choose to interact with the characters and environment affects the gameplay. Environmental challenges such as traps and events are procedurally combined to allow users replay without the game being driven by random numbers. When entering combat, gameplay becomes a turn-based JRPG active combat style of play.
There are currently eight character classes that you earn as you level and time is needed to train your team with additional abilities.
Star Crawlers was shown at PAX East within the Indie Mega Booth. It has been in development since 2014 when it was successfully funded through Kickstarter. It is now due to release in the Fall with 20-30 hours of gameplay and is currently in early access on Steam.
Star Crawlers is one of the games we are recommending to keep an eye on this year. Based on the early, very positive reviews on Steam, it seems others agree.
