Among the tidbits shared on the official Star Wars blog is one that confirms Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be receiving a next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S this summer. As with all other next-generation upgrades, the one for Fallen Order will take advantage of the fast loads times and other “technical improvements” the PS5 and XSX|XSS provide.

The blog post confirms that the upgrade will be free for those who already own the base game. It does not specify any disc-based or digital caveats, so it’s safe to say it will be readily available regardless of if players own the game physically or digitally.

So far, that’s about all we know about the upgrade. Outside of the broader summer release window, no firm release date was shared. The blog post did say that “more details will come soon,” likely on or around May the 4th if we had to guess.

For those who don’t already own the Star Wars action-RPG, Fallen Order is currently 70% off on PS4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam). The promotion runs through May 12 and includes the standard and deluxe editions of the game.

EA and Respawn Entertainment released a next-gen update patch for Fallen Order early this year in January, which increased the game’s framerate, dynamic resolution, and postprocessing on PS5 and Series X|S. The update was for last-gen versions of Fallen Order being played on next-gen platforms; the current upgrade is for a native next-gen version, which is likely to bring other improvements to Fallen Order.

Whatever the case may be, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is hands-down one of the best franchise games of the past decade and stands alongside Star Wars: Squadrons as a must-play for any Star Wars fan. Despite some relatively slow pacing here and there, it stands out for its narrative and combat.
